PAGE 006DRAFTED BY NUMBERS DESKAPPROVED A.R.
The receipts
Our numbers, live
Pulled monthly from the same database the desk runs on. Where a number needs ninety days to mean anything, it reads "not yet" until it does. We would rather show you a blank than a guess.
They are reported the way the industry's own measurement standard says to:1 what we did, what ran, what it changed and what it led to. There is no ad-value equivalent on this page, and no field for one in the database it is counted from.

How they are counted
- Pitches approved by a human this month
- Pitch and follow-up approvals a named person decided since the first of the month. An edit counts as an approval of the edited text; a rejection does not.
- Pitches the desk refused to send
- Sends the policy engine blocked at the door (an unverified claim, a suppressed or opted-out address, a jurisdiction that needs consent, a journalist pitched in the last seven days) plus drafts the Fact desk would not pass.
- Reply rate, last 90 days
- Replies received divided by pitches sent in the window. It reads a target until the window holds 30 sends and the first send is 90 days old.
- Median days to first clipping
- For each brand, days from its first send to its first verified clipping attributed to a pitch. It reads "not yet" until 5 brands have both.
- Opt-outs honoured, all time
- Addresses a journalist asked us to stop contacting, through the preference centre, one-click unsubscribe or a "stop" reply, kept as a hash forever.
- Journalists on our do-not-pitch list
- Every hash on the global suppression list, whatever the reason.
- Pitches per journalist, last 30 days
- Pitches sent divided by the distinct journalists they went to. The promise is at most one a week.
- Approval rate on journalist requests
- Answers to "looking for a source" requests that the journalist used. Not instrumented yet; it reads the band independent tests found.
- Clippings placed from a pitch
- Earned coverage we fetched, that names the client, attributed to a pitch we sent. Tier one is counted separately.
